Muneeza Sheikh and Haniya Khaliq Scholarship for Women 2018-07-27T22:55:09+00:00

Muneeza Sheikh and Haniyah Khaliq

Growing up, my mom stressed the importance of education for all of her children. With my father passing when I was 13, I saw my mother struggle with four young kids and little education. She persevered Alhumdulillah, but always reminded me that without an education, I would have limited choices that would not only affect my ability to care for myself, but to adequately care for the people that I loved. I have done my best to pass those lessons along to my daughter Haniyah, teaching her that education would give her the ability to be in full control of her life choices. I hope that Haniyah will pass those lessons on to her daughters, and hope that her education will help her build a platform where she can work to lionize basic justice and equality for those who have no platform at all.
