Samiya Abdi, holds a master’s degree in Public Health and Graduate Diploma in Social Innovation and Systems Thinking. Her experience spans from co-creating creative community engagement programs such as Aspire 2 Lead, The Muslim Youth Political Fellowship, co-founding international movements such as the Somali Gender Equality Movement and Famine resistors. Samiya has managed multimillion dollar projects within the corporate sector with IBM and most recently has been leading provincial health care initiatives across Ontario. Samiya is a community builder, a social entrepreneur and a public speaker. She is passionate about creating safe nonjudgmental spaces that foster growth, allow for failure and transformational learning. Samiya`s work is grounded in challenging multiple and intersecting forms of oppression; understanding marginalization in knowledge production, research and practice; and building equitable relationships.
