Project Description

I was born in Gaza, Palestine. I have been in Canada since 1979.

I hold a BSc (Honors) in chemistry & biology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, B.C.) and a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Victoria (Victoria, B.C.).

I have spent the last 25 years at Camosun College, a community college in Victoria, B.C. teaching my specialty. I have also taught spectroscopy and engineering chemistry. In addition, I have also taught upper level courses at the University of Victoria.

My administrative experience includes serving as the Chair of the department of chemistry & geoscience for a total of six years. I have also served on the Education Council (equivalent to a university senate) at Camosun College.

As part of my community involvement, I have served on an elected board in various capacities as the treasurer, secretary, as well as the chair of the British Columbia Muslim Association – Victoria Branch.
