Jawad Haider was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the northwest suburbs of the city. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in political science and biological sciences. During that time, Jawad volunteered for the 2004 senate and 2008 presidential campaigns of Barack Obama as well as for then mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley. In 2012, Jawad graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry as a doctor of optometry. He currently owns his own business in central Illinois where he provides comprehensive eye care and treats eye diseases from conjunctivitis to glaucoma. He is the vice president of the Illinois Valley Optometric Society and advocates in the state capital of Springfield, Illinois for the Illinois Optometric Association. Jawad has been married for over a year and enjoys traveling with his wife.
