In his current role, Imtiaz is responsible for strategy development, segment management, marketing and Business development for South Asian and Middle Eastern markets across RBC in the Greater Toronto Region.
Imtiaz joined RBC in 1989 after immigrating to Canada in 1988. Prior to joining RBC, Imtiaz who was born in New Delhi, India worked in banking in the U.K and Kenya for over seven years in various positions. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree.
His career with RBC began as a trainee account manager at the Independent Business Banking Center in Scarborough, Toronto in 1989. After graduating from the program he worked as an account manager in Business Banking in Toronto. In 1996 Imtiaz relocated to Singapore and was responsible for RBC’s Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions business for South Asia. In 1998 Imtiaz returned to Toronto as Director, South Asian Markets Ontario GU where he was responsible for business development, strategy and market management of the growing South Asian markets in Ontario. In 2002, as National Director, Cultural Markets he accepted the responsibility of developing an integrated Cultural Markets strategy for RBC across Canada. After developing a strategic blueprint he returned to his current client facing role in 2004.
Since joining RBC Imtiaz has been involved in diversity issues in client, employee and community environments. He has participated in several committees within RBC with a particular focus on championing diversity as a business imperative. Externally he has participated in a number of South Asian business and community organizations and is a founding charter member of TiE (Talent, Ideas & Enterprise) Toronto Chapter which is a global not for profit organization headquartered in Silicon Valley involved in mentorship, entrepreneurship and networking
