Aazar Zafar is a Portfolio Manager in the Strategic Relationships & Portfolio Intelligence group at OP Trust, an $18 Billion pension fund in the Province of Ontario. Mr. Zafar is responsible for innovative strategies and relationships that can help OP Trust improve its performance in investing and operations.
In addition, he founded and runs CASIC, a value oriented investment club that has a 15 year track record and impressive returns for its 40+ investors.
He also teaches as an adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo. Moreover, he is the Founder and Chairman of MAX Gala, this not for profit organization aimed at inspiring and celebrating excellence in a minority group in Canada.
Previously, Aazar worked for the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCO), a $70 billion pension for the province of Alberta. Most notably, he was a Principal in their Private Equity group leading numerous direct and partnership investments. Mr. Zafar led AIMCO’s entry into the Asian private equity market and had broad portfolio management responsibilities. He also helped form the Venture Capital Group at AIMCo and led their initial investments.
Mr. Zafar is a CPA and a qualified Chartered Accountant as well as a CFA charterholder. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Master’s degree in Accounting and a BA (Honours) in Chartered Accountancy Studies.
