“…a magnificent night of inspiration that left me yearning to achieve more in this short life.”- Rosia Nouri, MAX Graduate volunteer
The Annual MAX Gala is an incredible night of celebration that represents the culmination of efforts of over 450 volunteers on 13 different teams at MAX, towards the organizations 5 main areas of operation: Awards, Scholarships, Mentors, Women in Leadership and MAX Gala. Attended by luminaries in Canadian politics, medicine, law, business, development, academia and the arts, the Gala recognizes the achievements and contributions of seasoned professional and community leaders, and students that have made exemplary academic accomplishments alongside contributions to their school and community.
MAX Gala is a rare glimpse into the skills, talents and cultural strengths of a dynamic community of patriotic Canadian Muslims, whose continued efforts help build a strong workforce, energize the economy, and expand our combined cultural horizons. Publicly showcasing achievements also helps break down prejudice and promotes diversity and respect. It promotes pride within the community and ignites the desire to achieve our best potential while helping each other along the way.
“I think in the world we live in, it’s increasingly important to show Canadian Muslims who are giving back and contributing. I think in the past, we haven’t done the greatest job of highlighting our successes and achievements as a community … I think MAX brings something to the table that was sorely lacking.” – Sabeen Saeed, MAX Mentor
This year, over $125,000 will be awarded to 32 Canadian Muslims students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to academic and community accomplishments. 10 individuals will be honoured with Awards to recognize their impactful and consistent professional and community contributions.
MAX Gala 2018 was held at the Ritz Carlton Toronto with over 500 in attendance. The gala was a celebration of the way we transform, disrupt and innovate in the age of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ with talks from some of the pioneers and leaders who are playing a critical role in the advancement of emerging technologies, defining the way we live, work, and communicate.
In 2017 MAX Gala was held at the Roy Thomson Hall Toronto and it was our great privilege to have Prime Minister Justin Trudeau open the gala with video greetings to the audience.
“I want to congratulate everyone being honoured tonight. Thank you for the positive contributions you make to Canadian society each and every day … Tonight is a testament to the fact that diversity is our greatest strength.” – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
