Project Description

Muhanad Ali is currently completing his Honours Bachelors of Science in Population Health, [Critical] International Development Studies, and Anthropology (minor) at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). He currently serves as the Director of Health Studies and Anthropology for the Scarborough Campus Student Union (SCSU) and an advocate for the Youth Health Action Network (YHAN) in collaboration with the City of Toronto’s Public Health Unit.

With over 3 years of experience in dynamic research and a publication in the University of Toronto Medical Journal, his research interest lies in the areas of infectious diseases, social and structural determinants of health and health and social justice. He was a former Research Associate for Urban Alliance on Race Relations (UARR), where he participated in a one-year qualitative research project that examines the effectiveness of existing re-integration policies, procedures and programs amongst previously incarcerated self-identified Somali-Canadian youths. He also held a Co-Director position for the University of Toronto International Health Program at UTSC (UTIHP-UTSC) and was an undergraduate representative for both the Council of Student Services and the Health and Wellness Centre Advisory Committee at UTSC.
