Malak Elbatarny is a 2nd year medical student at Queen’s University with a BSc in Life Sciences. She is the recipient of the MAX 2016 Sajda Khatoon Memorial University/College All Star Award. Some of her notable achievements include receiving a studentship grant from the Canadian Hemophilia Society for inherited bleeding disorders research and the John F. Sparks Memorial Studentship for research in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Toronto.
She has received national/international awards in research and business, completed an internship at the Queen’s School of Business and Faculty of Engineering (QSII), and directed the Queen’s Genetically Engineered Machine Team. She has initiated entrepreneurship projects such as “Watermark Advertising Agency Kingston”, initiated youth education programs, served as the Chair of the Queen’s University Muslim Students Association (QUMSA), and enjoys work in graphic design. Malak hopes to pursue a career as a clinician-scientist in Cardiovascular Surgery.
