Toronto (October 5th, 2019): On Saturday, MAX (www.maxgala.com) proudly hosted its’ 4th Annual Muslim Awards for Excellence Gala. Ten awards were presented to nine outstanding professionals and one charitable organization, in recognition of their exceptional professional achievements and contributions made to their respective communities.

The event also recognized 32 high achieving students who were awarded scholarships worth $125,000. To date MAX has awarded $375,000 worth in scholarships in the fields of Medicine, Science and Engineering, Media, Humanities, along with a few scholarships specifically for women, minorities and students with learning disabilities.

In keeping with the theme ‘Words Matter’, speakers and winners reflected on the power of words to inspire dreams, ignite passions, impact and empower communities, and change the course of history.

Attended by luminaries in Canadian politics, medicine, law, business, development, academia and the arts, this years distinguished guests included The Honorable Bill Morneau- Canada’s Minister of Finance, Walied Soliman (Global Chair, Norton Rose & UN Canada 2019 Global Citizen), Richard Rooney (President and CIO, Burgundy Asset Management), Sean Munro (Regional Vice President, Commercial Financial Services, RBC), Armughan Ahmed (President & Managing Partner, KPMG Digital Technology), Dr. Khizer Khaderi (President, Vizzario, Professor, Stanford Institute for Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence), Salma Salman (CFO, TD Wealth) and Dr. Akira Tokuhiro (Dean and Professor, Faculty of Energy Systems UOIT).
