MAX Gala 2018 Announces Keynote Speakers; Theme is the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Toronto, September 26 — MAX’s 3rd Annual Gala, scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at Toronto’s Ritz Carlton, has now confirmed a roster of keynote speakers.
William Studebaker is the President and Chief Information Officer of ROBO Global, and will introduce the night’s theme of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Armughan Ahmad is a Global Technology Executive and will elaborate on Artificial Intelligence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, drawing on his experience with business growth in the era of emerging technologies. Fardeen Khan, Head of Strategic Initiatives at RBC Capital Markets in New York, will speak about the themes that are leading to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, navigating the practical impacts to workplaces often associated with artificial intelligence. The night will be rounded off with personal reflections shared by Zaynah Bhanji, a young innovator passionate about the ways in which technology can improve our lives and empower girls. The event will be moderated by Ebyan Farah, a sustainability business consultant.
MAX Gala 2018 is an opportunity for Canadians to learn about the significant contributions of Muslims to our country, and to celebrate how Canadian Muslims are striving for excellence and strengthening our nation. It is also a unique opportunity to interface with changemakers and innovators revolutionizing our daily lives through technology .

Ebyan Farah is passionate about the environment, sustainability and community development. She has led the implementation of sustainability initiatives in private corporations and nonprofit organizations.
Ebyan has cultivated a keen interest in human rights, civil liberties and social justice issues. She has organized the Know Your Rights workshops that educated various communities of new Canadians on their rights and the importance of integration into Canadian society. These and other leadership roles have allowed Ebyan to experience the power of organization and collective action, the importance of effective advocacy, and empowering individuals to provide effective community leadership.
She has also built bridges and led intercultural and interfaith initiatives between communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Her extensive experience in community transformation and engagement led to her receipt of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Ebyan was also instrumental in helping elect the first Canadian Somali – her husband – as a Member of Parliament from the riding of York South-Weston.
Fardeen Khan Heads Strategic and Data Science initiatives at RBC Capital Markets. This unit was formed in 2017 to leverage alternative data and AI in the investment industry to provide institutional clients unique insights and better ways to capture growth. Prior to that Fardeen was responsible for digitizing RBC’s institutional investment research business. Over his 10+ year career in financial services, Fardeen has worked in various verticals including compliance, product management, and technology.
Zaynah Bhanji is a 14 year old student who is passionate about artificial intelligence, as well as virtual and augmented reality. She has developed machine learning algorithms as well as VR experiences, and is working with companies including Google, CIBC, TD, and Microsoft. Zaynah is an advocate for women and girls in technology, and actively inspires them to become interested in emerging technology and innovation. Her mentors and advisors represent some of the leading companies in the AI and VR/AR space.
William Studebaker joined the ROBO Global team in 2015 after more than 20 years in capital management. For more than a decade, he served as a portfolio manager at Apex Capital where he covered industrials and the economies of supply chain management. Earlier in his career, he held a number of positions at Merrill Lynch, including as a trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and as a director in institutional equity sales, and he was an analyst in the structured finance group of Cargill. Bill received his BA in Political Science and International Relations (double major) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Armughan Ahmad is a technology executive with 25 years of experience leading digital
transformation businesses globally by building diverse teams that engineer and deliver client
outcomes across industry segments. He is an innovator transforming industries by leveraging government, research and technology alliances to commercialize offers that advance human and machine collaboration. Armughan has delivered award-winning innovative Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mobility and Security solutions across North American, European and Asian markets by collaborating with $10 million startups to large $100 billion plus corporations. Armughan served as the global Senior Vice President at Dell Technologies and previously held executive positions at Hewlett Packard, Huawei and 3Com building world class teams that are powering the Fortune 500 and commercial industries to advance the next economy. Armughan also serves on non-profit boards as a passionate promoter of girls education in STEM, mental health and developing world initiatives.
